Kyler Garrison (b. 2001) resides and works in Brooklyn as a self-taught painter. His practice is rooted in acrylics via an airbrush, utilizing the soft and hazy manner of the medium to communicate explored themes. Having a post-internet upbringing, the internet and the way we interact with it influences the themes of his work, as well the effect it has on one's memory.
The constant onslaught of digital distractions can often make it difficult for our minds to fully engage with the present moment, leading to a fragmented view of the past - where detail gets lost in translation and distorted with time. Viewers are invited to reflect on the role of influence and memory in their own lives, and the ways in which it can both enhance and deceive our understanding of the world around us.
Kyler Garrison is a painter born in 2001 in northern Colorado, currently working in Brooklyn, NY.
